ILiC Conference, Germany 4th October 2012

The conference for the ILiC project will take place on 4th October 2012 in Moers, Germany and hosted by German partner Paritätische Akademie LV NRW e. V.

This one day conference will showcase the ILiC products including the multilingual DVD and practitioner workbook to a target group audience of Adult Learning organisations, practitioners, trainers and adult learners from partners countries UK, Ireland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Italy and Germany.

The conference will also feature interactive workshops involving practitioners and learners. Partner organisations and stakeholder representatives from across the partner countries will take part in interactive sessions to test out and review the ILiC methodologies and the process of validation investigated by the ILiC project.

The conference will also feature Guest Speaker Peter Reichenbach from the association Atavus e.V. who will speak about the initiative sevengardens.

The final partnership meeting for ILiC will also take place in Düsseldorf on 3rd and 5th October. Partners will come together to review the results from the testing activities, discuss the ILiC In Service Training Course which will be delivered in year 2013 and plan next steps for the project which will finish end of November 2012.

MEH Invited to the First Erasmus Entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony in Brussels in October 2012

The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme which gives new and prospective entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other European Union countries and certain associated countries. Merseyside Expanding Horizons is one of the UK selected Intermediary Organisations providing support to new and expereinced entrepreneurs.

The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Support Office has organised for the first time the Erasmus Entrepreneurship Awards 2012 which will celebrate Entrepreneurs from across Europe. The event will take place in Brussels on 11th October 2012. The Awards Ceremony of the European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry with the collaboration of the Cyprus Presidency of the European Council. will be  attended by Members of the European Parliament, a representative of the Cyprus Presidency of the European Council, the SME envoy from the European Commission as well as by entrepreneurs who participated in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme. Merseyside Expanding Horizons have been invited to the event along with other Intermediary Organisations across Europe.

The First Merseyside social Enterprise Award

Wednesday 19th september 2012The event, held at Liverpool Town Hall, was organised by the Social Enterprise Network (SEN),

It was the first ever Merseyside Social Enterprise Awards, and is set to become a permanent fixture in the Social Enterprise calendar.

The event honoured the leading local social enterprises that are successful viable businesses making a real economic, social or environmental difference in their communities.

The shortlisted entrants were selected by an independent judging panel, including: Liverpool City Council Cabinet Member for Employment and Skills Councillor Nick Small; Andy Wright from Hill Dickinson; David Neilson, Chief Executive of Fusion21 and Councillor Gary Millar.
